Women's World Cup: France Unveils Expanded 32-Player Squad

The French women's basketball team, known as "Les Bleues," is bringing out the heavy artillery! With the 2026 Women's World Cup in Berlin just two months away, coach Jean-Aimé Toupane has called up an expanded group of 32 players. This roster includes 12 players currently competing in the WNBA, all ready to join the preparation phase with the team and provide the coach with a wide array of options.

The selection will be narrowed down before August 19th, when a training camp at the INSEP (Institut National du Sport, de l'Expertise et de la Performance) is scheduled to commence. During this camp, Les Bleues will play two closed-door matches against Italy on August 27th and 28th. Notably, France lost to Italy in the bronze medal match of the last EuroBasket. Following these games, the team will travel to Germany for a final friendly against China before the tournament begins.

With a significant number of WNBA players on the extended roster, the coach is currently in the United States to discuss their preparation and tournament involvement with the athletes, as announced by the French Basketball Federation.
